About Michelle

I have lived in Dunn County since 2016 with my husband and two children. We moved here after my husband retired from the Air Force, where he served for 23 years. His career gave us the opportunity to live in seven states and two countries, but Dunn County is where we chose to put down roots.

Since being elected to represent District 11 on the Dunn County Board in 2024, I have proudly served on the Committee on Administration, the Health and Human Services Committee, and the ADRC Committee (Aging & Disability Resource Center). These roles have given me the opportunity to work directly on issues that affect families, seniors, and businesses across our community.

I remain committed to ensuring that our county’s resources are used effectively and efficiently, that we prioritize the needs of our citizens, and that we continue to foster the sense of community that makes Dunn County such a great place to call home.

My Work on the County Board

As a member of the Committee on Administration and the Health and Human Services Committee, I take seriously the responsibility of reviewing monthly vouchers submitted by county departments. I examine these payments closely and ask questions whenever clarification is needed, because accountability begins with understanding how taxpayer dollars are spent.

When reviewing policies in the Committee on Administration, I carefully study the language, cross-checking with existing ordinances and past resolutions to ensure consistency and avoid conflicts. This diligence reflects my commitment to clear, transparent operations in local government—operations that residents can trust and that elected officials are willing to stand behind.

On the County Board as a whole, I bring this same approach: thoughtful review, attention to detail, and a focus on making decisions that strengthen our community and uphold the integrity of county government.

Important Issues

I believe that economic development is a priority for our community. I want to keep Dunn County a welcoming place to live, work, and play. I understand the importance of listening to the community needs and making sure your voices are heard. Below are some issues I feel are important to all of us.

County Roads

Dunn County has 425 miles of County Highways—the seventh most in Wisconsin, despite being 33rd in population. Our roads often last twice their intended lifespan, requiring constant patching. I will continue to advocate for increased capacity to repair and rebuild our roads, and for stronger state and federal support to fund this critical infrastructure.

Business Development & Housing

Housing and workforce development remain deeply connected. Without affordable housing, we cannot attract new families or workers; without a strong workforce, businesses struggle to grow. I will keep working to support initiatives that expand housing options and strengthen our local economy, so Dunn County remains a welcoming place to live, work, and thrive.

The Local Impact of Federal Funding Changes

Federal budget changes may feel distant, but they touch the daily lives of people in Dunn County. One of the clearest examples is FoodShare. When benefits are reduced, families here struggle to put food on the table, and local food pantries see increased demand. These shifts don’t just affect individuals—they ripple through the whole community, from schools to local businesses.

Another area where federal decisions matter is affordable health coverage. Changes to Affordable Care Act subsidies determine whether working families can afford insurance. When subsidies shrink, more of our neighbors are left without coverage, which means higher costs when emergencies happen and fewer options for preventive care.
